Luce is the 2025 Jubilee Mascot

The 2025 Jubilee Mascot is Named “Luce”: A Pop Pilgrim with a Manga Look

Monsignor Rino Fisichella has officially introduced “Luce,” the mascot of the 2025 Jubilee. Luce is a vibrant, manga-inspired pilgrim created by illustrator Simone Legno, embodying a message of hope and welcome.

Dressed in a yellow coat and wearing a multicolored rosary, Luce will serve as the welcoming figure for the Holy Year and the Vatican’s pavilion at the Osaka Expo. Her debut took place on Monday, October 28, during a conference led by Monsignor Fisichella. The Jubilee itself begins soon, with Pope Francis set to open the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica on December 24, 2025, closing it again on January 6, 2026.

Who is Luce, the 2025 Jubilee Mascot?

Luce is a young pilgrim, equipped with the essentials of a traveler: a yellow raincoat for protection against the elements, green boots scuffed with signs of her journey, a missionary cross around her neck, and a pilgrim’s staff. She embodies the themes of pilgrimage and mission, symbolizing today’s youth as they seek connection and purpose in their spiritual journey. Her sparkling eyes represent the hopes of young people, echoing the expectations, dreams, and aspirations they carry.

Luce’s eyes shine brightly as symbols of hope, capturing the essence of the pilgrim’s spirit—the longing for spirituality and divine connection. She communicates a universal message of peace and unity. Beyond just representing the Jubilee, Luce embodies community, welcome, and the joy of shared experiences.

Luce was designed by the Italian illustrator Simone Legno, widely known for founding the Tokidoki brand. His work is inspired by Japanese culture, street art, and graffiti. Created with a fresh, pop aesthetic appreciated by younger audiences, Luce aims to inspire youth and promote intergenerational dialogue. Her message is one of hope and inclusion, encouraging young people to connect with the Jubilee through a modern, dynamic image.
